Course Information
Instructor: Jesse Sharp

Upon successful completion of this required 32-hour training session, you will receive
certification to the ASSE 6010*, ASME IX Brazer Certification**, and LOKRING Certification.
You should be able to:
  • Describe different technologies and products of Medical Gas Pipeline Systems
  • Explain applicable laws, codes and rules from all levels of law pertaining to
    Medical Gas and Vacuum Systems
  • Apply proper procedures for compliant installation 
The session will cover:
  • NFPA 99 requirements (2005 edition)
  • NFPA 50 & 55
  • Terminology from ASSE 6001
  • Medical Gas Headers, Manifolds and Cryogenic Liquid Systems
  • Bulk Cryogenic Liquid Systems
  • Medical Air Systems and Associated Components
  • Medical / Surgical Vacuum Systems
  • Waste Anesthesia Gas Disposal Systems
  • Instrument Air Systems
  • Medical Pipeline Valves
    (types, locations, & labeling)
  • Medical Pipeline Outlets
  • Manufactured Assemblies
  • Medical Rail Systems
  • Medical Pipeline Warning Systems
  • Level 1, Level 2 and
    Level 3 Pipeline Systems
Student Provided Material
Students must provide these materials and tools at their own expense. Quantities listed below are estimates. Actual usage depends on practice needed. Many of the items will also be necessary to complete the practical brazing.
  • 10 feet of 1-1/2" Type L copper pipe
  • 10 each 1-1/2" socket type couplings
  • Acetylene tank
  • Turbo torch or equivalent with "A32" tip
  • Gas hose
  • 1 lb BCup braze rods
  • Green scouring pads
  • Pipe de-burring tool
  • Pipe cutter with 1-1/2" capacity
    (must be free of grease, oil or other lubricants not suitable for oxygen service)
  • Clean lint free cloth
  • Safety glasses
  • Hearing protection
Course Requirements
  • A government issued ID and full course payment are required prior to beginning of the class.
  • A minimum number of registered students must be met before class can be held. Should we
    not meet the required number, we will make every attempt to reschedule the class.
Additional Information
*ASSE 6010 is the 100 question multiple choice test.
**ASME IX is the practical test in which students braze a vertical and horizontal coupon.
